Let’s rest and let’s read – ISUF2022 memories

This year was a nightmare. My Mum broke her pelvis, and along with her Parkinson’s disease, this has created a series of huge challenges in the life of the whole family. I have been trying to catch up with everything, including the post-ISUF2022 commitments. There are lots of reasons to not catch up.

By the way – ISUF 2022 was a great conference; nobody denies it. We- especially our Office at the Lodz University of Technology (I mean here, the office of the Institute of Architecture and Town Planning) – did substantial organisational work to put all this together. This was a massive challenge because organising a conference in two cities and involving three universities cannot be easy. Not to mention organising parallel online sessions – overnight. I still do not know why we have planned it in such a complicated way. The financing from the Ministry of Science and Education also increased the complexity and put additional bureaucratic endeavours on us.

Nevertheless, the congress was a success – it gathered over 300 scholars from all over the world. Around 150 delegates came to Lodz and Kraków in person – even if this was right after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine and directly after the pandemic. I have included some photographs below in case you have not attended this event (In this collection – credits go to Karolina Hanzl). We are still working on this topic – hopefully, the publications will finally be released. However, this is a series of surprises about how complex and difficult an editing process might be. We are also busy with the post-congress bureaucracy, which will continue until at least next April.

Which means I have less time for other things, including this blog. To the point that this is the first time I am writing about the ISUF2022 conference here. Even if it will be 2024 soon.

I am constantly promising myself not to work during the Christmas break this time (last year, there were ISUF2022 project accountancy issues right before Christmas Eve and some more after and in between holidays ) and to have time to rest and write at least occasionally. In the meantime, the pile of books to read has grown enormously. Similar to the number of items I should finish writing. Please keep your fingers crossed that it eventually comes to completion :-).
