The Death and Life of Great American Cities – students accounts

It has been a while since I shared anything here. Busy with switching to online education, which is indeed absorbing. In here, I feel grateful to the fantastic tutors of the Masters of Didactics course from the University of Groningen, which I had managed to finish right before the start of the pandemic. It was helpful, indeed. I share some of the results during the session organised by Prof. Alessandro Camiz on various forms of remote education in Architecture.

Recently, however, most of the Colleagues proudly share their students’ works and achievements. I think that we might have something to show in this domain too. This would be the first of the posts in this series as the exam session is approaching. During the lecture Introduction to Urban Design done for the students of the 3rd semester of the Bachelor Course in Architecture at the Lodz University of Technology, we have got the tradition to read and afterwards share the chapters from the famous book by Jane Jacobs The Death and Life of Great American Cities. Book-reading is something which students should get used to after all, shouldn’t they?

I would like to proudly present two of these podcasts, which I do like and which made all us laugh and enjoy. They discuss two topics: Some myths about diversity and The need for small blocks. All the students in this group were committed and involved, but these two podcasts are real fun. Please enjoy.

Some myths about diversity proudly presented by Jakub Kowalczyk and Jakub Hunt

The need for small blocks presented by Dominik Bralewski i Michał Szczepanek
